Bridal Gown Trends by Cami Unger

A special thank you to Cami Unger, design specialist from Emerald Bridal, for her insights below on bridal gown trends for 2010. J&B is thrilled to have Cami join us Friday and Saturday March 5th and 6th for an exclusive Emerald Bridal trunk show! Can't wait to see you, Cami!

"My name is Cami Unger and I am the Trunk Show Coordinator and part of
the design team for Emerald Bridal. I am thrilled to be coming to J & B
Bridal for our Spring trunk show on March 5 & 6, 2010.

I travel all over the country and get to work with so many wonderful
brides. 2010 is looking to be a great year for dresses. The classic
styles of strapless, sheath, full skirts, and A-lines are updated with
beautiful new fabrics. The trend seems to be more on the simple side
with jewelry beading accenting the gown for that extra bling.
Accessorizing dresses with belts or adding rhinestone buttons are a
popular choice this year, as well. Flowing, empire waist with sheer
fabrics that used to be only used for destination weddings, are now
being looked at for more formal weddings.

Come in to view our 2010 line. I look forward to working with you and
finding the dress of your dreams!"

What To Expect at Your Wedding Gown Appointment

1. HAVE FUN!!! You will be working personally one-on-one with a friendly, professional bridal consultant whose number one goal is to help you find the perfect dress but to have fun in the process!

2. Your consultant will help you choose dresses to try on that are exactly what you are asking for. She will carefully listen to you and will pull dresses accordingly. Your consultant will provide you with a veil, slip, shoes, and any other accessories you may need while you are trying on dresses, so there is no need to bring any of those items unless you have some particular accessories you would like to wear with your gown.

3. Don't be surprised if you find your dress your first time in! Over 70% of brides who come into J&B find their dress on the first time! Brides love this, because then they can move on and focus on all of the other plans for their wedding, knowing that one of the biggest decisions is made.

How Do You Find the Perfect Wedding Gown?

Shopping for a wedding gown should be one of the most FUN experiences in the entire wedding planning process! When a bride finds herself with that coveted ring on her finger, she is usually more than excited to begin the hunt for the perfect "gown of all gowns"!! However, just as many brides find themselves overwhelmed and unsure where to start! J&B would like to dedicate our next few blog posts to helping new brides know where to start when beginning the journey of finding the perfect gown.

First, a few tips of advice:

1. Do some research
Magazines and the internet are two of the best places to begin. J&B Bridals has links to all of our designers on our website for this very reason. We want to make it as easy as possible for brides to have some exposure to the styles of wedding gowns that are out there and available! Bring pictures with you to J&B, or contact your consultant ahead of time with styles that you like, so that your consultant will be better prepared to know what kinds of styles you think you would like to try on.

2. Schedule an appointment
Although an appointment is not necessary at J&B, it is extremely helpful. Most appointments last around 90 minutes but can be as short as 45 minutes or can last up to 2 hours. It is helpful to know that Saturday appointments book up the quickest, so it is a good idea to call at least one week ahead of time if you are scheduling a Saturday appointment. You will find a little more breathing room for appointments during the week and on evenings, as the store is not quite as busy during those times as on Saturdays. Please keep all of this in mind as you schedule your appointment.

3. Bring a small group of people with you
Some brides think that the more people they have with them at their appointment, the easier it will be for them to decide on their gown. The opposite is actually true. You should bring only one or two other people with you, such as your mom, best friend, sister, etc., and make sure they are people whose opinions you value and trust. Many times, the more people you bring to your appointment, the more opinions you will get and the more confused you will get. Keep in mind, no matter who is with you at your appointment, that it is YOU who has to be in love with the dress!
